CORRIE favourites David Platt and Shona Ramsey will be reunited by Christmas, Cobbles boss Iain MacLeod has confirmed.
Viewers have been left on tenterhooks as Shona has struggled to remember her marriage to the barber.
Fans of Corrie know that Shona has suffered memory loss after getting caught in the firing line during the Christmas shooting last year and can’t even remember her husband David.
Then things went from bad to worse when he walked in on Shona trying to kiss her support worker, leaving viewers to think it was the end of the road for the pair.
However, Corrie boss Iain MacLeod and Shona actress Julia Goulding have both confirmed there is a happy ending for the couple in time for the festive season – a Christmas miracle.
Speaking about the reunion, Iain said: “There is a hopeful start to a resolution for David and Shona. ‘New’ Shona may find love for David and vice versa.
“We wanted it to be unusual and two people falling in love together again after becoming strangers. There is a happy ending – it will be resolving around Christmas and I am really pleased with the story.”
The soap bigwig also revealed he created ‘new’ Shona based having experienced something similar himself.
He said: “My mum had a serious head injury in my teens – it can permanently shift your personality.
“Not necessarily in a damaging, heinous way but it means people have to get to know you again so it would be dishonest to just hit reset.”
Speaking about her character, new-mum Julia revealed she’s rooting for Shona and David to get back together.
She said: “It’s very much getting to know each other again and learning who he is and how to love him.
“We start to see her fall in love again as everything that she first loved in him is still there. The harder job is for him to fall back in love with her. I’m really rooting for them…
“I don’t think the drama will stop. Shona is made for David, to be honest.”
