Coronation Street viewers were thrilled as Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) stood up to abusive Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew), branding it the ‘best showdown’ in soap history.
Yasmeen is currently in behind bars after attacking her husband earlier this year, when tensions came to a head after another argument.
And, in tonight’s instalment, she was visited by Geoff’s ex partner, Elaine (Paula Wilcox), who revealed she was also a victim of his actions.
‘Go to the prison library,’ she urged. ‘Ask for every book you possibly can on coercive control, and read them.’
Later in the episode, after flicking through a book, Yasmeen got in touch with Geoff on the secret phone and appeared to listen as he insists that he will change and become a better man.
‘I’m lost without you, I feel like my right arm has been cut off. And my left,’ he said, explaining he was doing ‘all he could’ to get her home.
But she turned the tables, standing up to his threats and attempts to portray himself as the victim.
‘Oh shut up, Geoff,’ she yelled, before questioning him on his previous behaviour and his ex partners.
‘I believed you, but all the time you were projecting.
‘You manipulated me and I fell for it, but I shan’t again. I will never, ever go back to you again.
‘And even if I’m found guilty it would be a good result because I shan’t ever have to go to bed with you.
‘And if I’m not guilty then the same.’
Right on cue, fans flocked to Twitter to praise her for standing her ground.
‘Thank God, Yasmeen has seen the light. #corrie,’ one tweeted, while another celebrated: ‘You go Yasmeen – finally found her voice! No more sleeping with Geoff, result #Corrie #coronationstreet.’
