CHRIS Evans has revealed he almost missed the birth of one of his children as he was in the pub on today's Virgin Radio Breakfast Show.
The 53-year-old has four children with wife Natasha Shishmanian, as well as adult daughter Jade Evans.
Recounting the birth of his six-year-old son Eli in 2012, Chris told his listeners: "I was there for all of them – just.
"I got a phone call in a pub when I was at Hay Festival.
"[Natasha] was late, but we made all these provisions as I was only away 12 hours.
"I thought 'I'm not going to miss it it's only 12 hours', but I almost did."
Chris recalled he was in Wales for the annual festival to host his previous breakfast show on Radio 2 when Natasha's waters broke.
Chatting to co-star Vassos Alexander, he continued: "I was in the pub with you Vassos and David Walliams.
"He took over the show the next day and we listened to it in Natasha's room.
"We were at the pub and I had just ordered a pint of shandy as I was being good.
"I was down the bottom of the beer garden and I got the text.
"[Vassos] said 'Oh my God that's the text isn't it? He just knew by my face' and so he wished me luck and I was gone."
Chris ended up taking a helicopter back to London and arrived with minutes to spare to see Eli arrive into the world.
The star, who also has 10-year-old Noah and seven-month-old twins Boo and Walt, then revealed rock band Primal Scream will be on Friday's show.
Pondering what a primal scream actually is, co-star Rachel Horne said it was the sound a woman makes when they give birth.
Agreeing, Chris replied: "There is no sound like the sound a mum makes giving birth
"I've never heard a sound like it before or after the births, that is primal scream."
