Jasmine Harman took a trip to the Canary Island of Tenerife for the latest edition of A Place in the Sun. The Channel 4 expert was finding Steve and Jane’s first property together but struggled to find homes that captured the imagination of the couple. Despite showing the pair five very different properties, the couple made it clear Jasmine hadn’t found them their dream home.
The Eastbourne couple were looking for their first home after 16 years together.
Steve and Jane ideally wanted a second home which they could relocate to in the next few years.
Jasmine’s property search got off to a terrible start as the first home was a complete no-no.
The four-bed house in La Laguna didn’t have the living space they were looking for and the design of the marble floor was something the couple couldn’t get past.

“I’m struggling to think what we could put in here with this floor,” Jane remarked.
Jasmine replied: “I’m trying to gauge whether this property is in the running at all.”
The couple didn’t completely rule it out but when Jasmine persisted, they explained it wouldn’t work for them.
Steve tried to be optimistic but Jasmine remarked: “Very kind of you to say but I fear you’re just being polite.”
“It’s not right,” Steve hit back.
“That wasn’t the flying start I was hoping for,” the expert commented once she was alone.
The second property wasn’t much better despite it having a large outdoor space for Jane and a space for a music studio for Steve.
Exasperated, Jasmine said: “So many advantages for them, the music room, location, outside space. I’m going to have a complete rethink.

“It’s not going very well. I’m struggling to put my finger exactly on what they want.”
The third and fourth property received pretty much the same reaction from the couple leaving Jasmine with her final offering.
The four-bed townhouse had an unusual layout with the front door opening into the garage.
It offered plenty of space but the kitchen wasn’t suitable for the couple’s lifestyle.
When the pair met with Jasmine to discuss the properties, they explained they wouldn’t be making an offer with any of them.
“I realise there were a lot of compromises even with the last property,” Jasmine said.
“It’s so disappointing,” she added as they revealed they needed to have a think about what they really wanted from their new home.
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 4pm.
