- New episodes of Victoria last aired on PBS in 2019.
- U.K. broadcaster ITV has said it has “no plans” at the moment for Victoria Season 4
- Victoria star Jenna Coleman will appear in The Sandman on Netflix later in 2022.
Unfortunately for fans of the regal period drama, it looks like progress on Victoria Season 4 has stalled.
“There are no plans presently to film Victoria, but that’s not to say we won’t revisit the series with the production team at a later date,” U.K. broadcaster ITV told Radio Times in July 2021. According to PBS, the show is currently on hiatus.
That’s bound to be disappointing news for fans, who were left hanging after season 3’s cliffhanger ending. In the finale, Albert collapsed in front of his wife and Duchess Sophie (Lily Travers) was on the verge of fleeing her abusive husband for a new life with a footman named Joseph (David Burnett).
Not long after season 3 aired, Victoria’s creator, Daisy Goodwin, said she was already thinking about a possible fourth season.
“I am working on series four at the moment and that’s going to be an absolute humdinger, because… well, you can go to Wikipedia to find out!” she told Digital Spy in March 2019.
“Somebody dies and someone new comes on the scene, so there is a lot to play with there,” she added. “I’ve really got back into it and am really enjoying writing it.”
Jenna Coleman will play Johanna Constantine in Netflix’s ‘The Sandman’
While fans keep their fingers crossed that they might someday see Victoria Season 4, Coleman has been keeping busy.
She played Marie-Andrée Leclerc, the girlfriend and accomplice of real-life killer Charles Sobhraj, in the 2021 Netflix series The Serpent. Later in 2022, she’ll appear in The Sandman, also on Netflix. She’ll play Johanna Constantine in the adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed graphic novel.
