Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler is known to the media as an athlete always worth talking to in a post-game dressing room. He’s usually insightful and almost always cooperative.
But Wheeler didn’t have the patience for a deep dive into what went wrong after the Jets were eliminated from the playoffs by the St. Louis Blues on Saturday with a 3-2 loss. They were also outshot 36-20.
This is how the conversation went when the Jets winger was questioned by a member of the media after the Jets' Game 6 loss:
Media member: In the elimination game, you guys probably expected your best, right? What happened?
Wheeler: "(Expletive) off. Please, come on, man. I mean, like, you know, this is a tough trophy to win and maybe our best wasn’t good enough today. And their best was pretty darn good. In situations like that you look for the resolve in your group — you look for how guys fight and we played until the last whistle, so that’s the way I see it."

It should be noted that Wheeler was still insightful and that at least he did use the word "please."
