Newcastle star gives Millan insight
Allan Saint Maximin says his focus was only ever on winning his starting place back in the Newcastle side amid links of interest from AC Milan in the January window.
The French winger got his first Prem start in five months in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with West Ham.
Afterwards the 25-year-old said: "I want to be honest because I’m not going to lie.
"When you are in the situation, a lot of teams can see that and think it’s the right opportunity to come and buy the player.
“But I’m very proud to be here, and the most important thing for me is to play.
"I will always try to be in a position where I play every game because no player plays football to be on the bench."

Man City are set to sign Cardiff City starlet Lewys Benjamin, reports suggest.
Benjamin, 17, will undergo a medical before putting pen to paper with City where he will play as the academy goalkeeper.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Wales Under-17 international was targeted by a host of Premier League clubs.
But Cardiff’s teenage sensation ultimately opted for the “Man City project”.
Romano tweeted: “Cardiff City talent Lewys Benjamin, undergoing medical tests and now set to sign with Manchester City as new Academy goalkeeper.
“Wales U17 international, Benjamin was in the list of many UK clubs but he said yes to Man City project.”
Jamie Carragher has suggested that Erling Haaland might have signed for the WRONG club.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the ex-Liverpool defender said: “He may have actually picked the wrong club to actually get the best out of him.
“Manchester City, as a team, have scored the same amount of goals.
“He’s scored 25 Premier League goals, but Manchester City as a team have scored the same amount of goals and they’ve conceded more and it’s far easier to counter-attack them as well.
“So they’re a different team and a lesser team with Erling Haaland in the team and it’s not his fault.
“Manchester City as a team will not play end to end football, it’s not Pep Guardiola’s way.
“Erling Haaland has still scored 25 goals, but we’re not seeing the full package of what this player can do because of the team that he’s gone to.
“I’m not criticising him and I think he’s that he’s so good he’s still scored 25 goals, but we’ve probably only seen 60 or 70 per cent of him.
“We’re not seeing that power and that blistering pace, but we’ve got to come back to the fact that no matter how many goals he’s scored as an individual, Manchester City have scored exactly the same number of goals.”
Antonio Conte was straight on the phone to Harry Kane after his Tottenham star’s record-breaking matchwinner against Manchester City.
The striker grabbed the only goal of the game as Spurs defeated the Cityzens in North London.
That was his 267th strike for the club and saw him move ahead of Jimmy Greaves as the club’s all-time top scorer.
And as soon as he was in the dressing-room the absent Conte was straight on the blower to his superstar, although the conversation remained private despite Sky Sports’ cameras being there to capture the moment.
West Brom manager Carlos Corberan is reportedly “emerging as a potential candidate” for Leeds United should they sack Jesse Marsch.
The Elland Road side’s miserable run of form continued with a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest today.
That left them without a win in the Premier League since November 5 and only out of the bottom three via goal difference.
Marsch has admitted that he understands the frustrations of supporters as the pressure mounts ahead of a double header with in-form Manchester United this week.
Now the Daily Mail are claiming Leeds “owner Andrea Radrizzani and Paraag Marathe will be the men that have the key say on Marsch’s future” over the coming days.
They state that Corberan, who previously worked for the club as coach under Marcelo Bielsa, “was admired” already.

Joelinton's baby joy
Joelinton went from Toon main man to balloon game fan with a spectacular gender reveal at St James' Park.
The crowd favourite endeared himself to Newcastle supporters even more by choosing the cherished turf for his own personal big moment.
The Brazilian, partner Thays Gondim and their two children waited on the halfway line – gazing at a goal covered in pink and blue balloons.
Joelinton then booted a ball in the air – the signal for launching a mass of blue flares and streamers.
His family reacted with wild excitement, leaping around and sharing hugs.
They then spoke to the camera about their new boy joy.

It was three 'n queasy for Cristiano Ronaldo as he shared his 38th birthday joy.
The legend strictly controls his diet – so he might feel faint just sniffing the trio of cakes unveiled on his big family day.
Ronaldo began the weekend just how he wanted… with a cheeky birthday shoot.
He took the ball out of team-mate Talisca's hands to net a stoppage-time penalty, his first goal for new club Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
And he continued exactly the way he likes it too – enjoying his birthday with partner Georgina Rodriguez and their kids.

Gary Neville was dumbfounded by Manchester City's tactics in a costly 1-0 defeat at Tottenham.
Neville told Sky Sports: "Haaland is making the runs. He is ready to go, they (City players) are just not playing them.
"The amount of runs he makes that get ignored is incredible."

Gordon ban
Newcastle United’s £45million signing Anthony Gordon "didn't know about the ban" when he was caught driving while suspended, it's understood.
It comes after news that the Premier League star could face jail after driving just two days into a road ban.
Gordon, 21, got a six-month disqualification on Monday for twice failing to disclose details of the driver of his car.
But on Wednesday he was pictured driving his £100,000 black Mercedes G-Wagon with his girlfriend Annie Keating.
It is understood that the Newcastle winger "wasn't aware" he was breaching a ban.

Flick at Chelsea
Germany boss Hansi Flick was spotted at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea's Premier League clash with Fulham on Friday with pressure mounting on Graham Potter.
The Blues played out a 0-0 draw with their West London rivals despite having hundreds of millions of pounds worth of talent on the pitch.
The Stamford Bridge stalemate means Chelsea have just one win in their last six league games, mounting further pressure on boss Potter, who continues to struggle to get a tune out of his team.
Germany manager Flick was in attendance – but his presence was to most likely keep an eye on Kai Havertz ahead of the upcoming international break.
Havertz started and played a full 90 minutes up top, and even saw an effort hit the post.

Miserable De Bruyne
Kevin De Bruyne was spotted looking down in the dumps after being DROPPED by Manchester City for the clash at Tottenham.
The Belgian midfielder, 31, is widely-recognised as one of the finest players on the planet.
And his almost telepathic understanding with striker Erling Haaland has downed many teams already this term.
However, Pep Guardiola opted to leave the magician out of his side for the trip to Spurs as he only named him on the bench.
As the starting XI prepared for action beforehand, De Bruyne was spotted performing the role of laying off the ball for his team-mates to fire shots off during the warm-up.
Things soon got worse for City as they fell behind early doors as Harry Kane became Tottenham’s all-time record goalscorer.

Fati race
Arsenal have joined Man Utd and Tottenham in the hunt for Barcelona ace Ansu Fati, according to reports.
Mundo Deportivo claim the Spain international is being targeted by the Premier League clubs after failing to secure regular first team football with the Catalans.
Barça are spoilt for choice in the forward positions – which could make Fati surplus to requirements.
However, the story says Bayern Munich are the front-runners for his signature.

Half Time at the City Ground
Brennan Johnson's wonder strike is enough to give Forest the lead heading into the break.

What a Goal
Brennan Johnson has just struck a beauty to give Nottingham Forest a 1-0 lead against Leeds.
Jesse Marsch's side had started the stronger but 21-year-old Johnson hit the net against the run of play.
The ball fell to him on the edge of the box after a cross was cleared and the star hit a stunning side foot volley past Illan Meslier after 12 minutes.
It's his third Premier League goal in as many games.

Keeping Up With Kaoru
Arsenal have Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma in their sights, according to reports.
The brilliant winger has stole headlines repeatedly this season with his outstanding goals and dribbling ability.
He's the latest diamond in the rough uncovered by the Seagulls – and now bigger clubs are prepared to swoop.
Fabrizio Romano reports for Caught Offside that Arsenal are monitoring him and he could be available for as little as £35m.

The Race for 267
It could be a historic afternoon at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today.
Harry Kane is tied with Jimmy Greaves on 266 goals for Spurs after he struck against Fulham last month.
Score against Manchester City and the youth academy graduate will stand alone as the highest scorer in the 140-year history of Tottenham football club.
It's a tasty subplot to a game that already has much riding on it with City looking to close in on Arsenal and Spurs looking to take advantage of Newcastle's dropped points yesterday.

Bossing It
Under-fire Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken out on his future at Anfield as his team's horror slump hit a new low with a 3-0 loss to Wolves.
The Reds were easily beaten at Molineux on Saturday.
A tetchy Klopp told reporters: "You know my job, I know my job, my job is not to explain here how I can build up my team.
"I will be judged by that from you and that’s fine. Let me say it like this, for today, it was not good enough, what I did.
"You can criticise, you can judge us, you can say whatever want and you are probably right – I have nothing to say against that because these 12 minutes are not allowed."

Rob the Rich
Fulham want a stunning £35million for left-back Antonee Robinson with Manchester City and the Milan giants on his trail, writes SunSport's Alan Nixon.
The United States international looks as good as any in his position and Man City are in his fan club.
Joao Cancelo’s exit led to a deadline day inquiry for the 25-year-old.
Although Fulham’s price tag was deemed too high.
Both Inter and AC Milan are huge admirers of Robinson.
However, the Serie A sides also won’t pay the £35million sum, so City may well end up as his likeliest destination.
