Tiger Woods shared an inspiring message with a young athlete battling Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer.
Ten-year-old Luna Perrone was at a soccer event in Florida over the weekend, when she unexpectedly ran into Woods. The golf icon — who is still recovering from severe lower leg injuries he sustained in a single-car crash in California on Feb. 23 — posed with his crutches in a photo with Perrone.
“I got to have a quick chat with @tigerwoods this weekend when I bumped into him at the soccer fields! He told me to ‘stay strong’ which has always been my goal! Stay strong physically and mentally and inspire others to do the same! No matter what you are going through YOU GOT THIS!!!,” Perrone captioned the photo, which was shared to her Instagram page.
Woods was all smiles in the snap and sported a sleeve on his surgically repaired right leg.
It’s unclear why Woods was at the soccer field in Florida, though he has a multi-million dollar mansion in Jupiter Island, where he has been recovering since March.
The latest Woods sighting comes nearly one month after he shared the first photo of himself after the car crash. The Instagram photo was taken on his newly renovated backyard golf course and showed Woods wearing a tall walking boot and using crutches.
The 82-time PGA Tour winner has not addressed his recovery plan in detail, but continues to root for fellow golfers on social media.
