Seven sports stars who make sure they have sex before they compete, from Nick Kyrgios to Ronda Rousey and Ronaldo | The Sun

HAVING nookie before they play has always been a massive no-no for sports stars.

Many have said that a draining sex session with their partners is off the cards on the eve of a big match, race or even fight.

However, these seven sporting greats believe the opposite – and say it IMPROVES their performance.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola was once rumoured to have banned his players from having sex before games in 2016.

He soon shut that down, though. "It is impossible to play good football if you don't make sex with your partner," he said.

"It's impossible, I never did that. They have to do it. As much as they do it, better players."

Nick Kyrgios

The Aussie tennis player has had a string of stunning girlfriends, and is currently dating underwear model Costeen Hatzi who regularly joins him on tour.

Before he settled down with her, he spoke on his No Boundaries podcast about his frustration when alone on the tennis circuit.

"With my first girlfriend, I was away from her for six months at a time,” he explained.

“When you’re trying to perform at the highest level, you start missing someone like emotionally, physically and it becomes a sexual frustration. I’m on court and I can’t play because I’m a bit horny, if you know what I mean.

"It doesn’t matter if you’re in an office job. If you’re not seeing your significant other, it affects you, your work, your mood, everything."

Barcelona legend Ronaldinho was renowned for his party lifestyle.

"During my time at Barcelona, I often practised sex before games. It was not a problem but a benefit, as it made me happier before I played on the field," he said to Playboy magazine in 2013.

And he was recently accused of having a three-way relationship with two women – having to deny he was set to marry them both.

It's worth noting Ronaldinho also released condoms in his name too.

Ronda Rousey

When she was ruling the UFC, Ronda Rousey insisted she made time for as much sex as possible before stepping into the Octagon.

"I mean for girls it raises your testosterone, so I try to have as much sex as possible before a fight, actually," she said in an interview in 2012 on Showtime.

To avoid confusion, Rousey then joked: "Not with like everybody. I don't put out Craigslist ads or anything, but you know, if I got a steady, I'm going to be like, 'Yo. Fight time's coming up'."

Paul Hunter

Late snooker legend Hunter famously did it WHILE he was playing.

In the 2001 Masters final, the Leeds-born cueman was trailing 6-2 at the interval.

He knew there was only one thing for it. Hunter squeezed in a bonking session with girlfriend Lindsey Fell.

Hunter returned to the table a new man – winning 19-9 and recording four centuries in six frames.

He revealed: "Sex was the last thing on my mind. I just wasn't in the mood. But I had to do something to break the tension,” he said at the time. “It was a quick session – around 10 minutes or so – but I felt great afterwards.

"She jumped in the bath, I had a kip and then played like a dream. I reeled off four centuries in six frames. I won easily.”

John Daly

Golf hellraiser Daly admitted sex improves his game.

It's worth remembering he's had four wives too.

He told USA Today in 2016: "I am a nympho, but I’m a loyal nympho. You stay loyal to me, I’ll stay loyal to you.

"Sex is the greatest thing in the world. It just doesn’t last long enough. I’ll say it. It’s the greatest feeling in the world.”

In terms of stress before a match, ex-Brazil star Ronaldo had another way of relieving himself.

However, he did admit it left him a little energyless.

"Nobody can prove that sex affects performance on the field," he once told Sport.

"Masturbation is more tiring."

George Best

On the eve of Man Utd's FA Cup semi-final against Leeds, lothario Best was caught having sex with a lady he met on the hotel staircase.

This time, it did affect his game.

"I had my normal nightmare against Leeds," Best admitted in his autobiography.

"Their players had also got wind of what had gone on in the hotel and Johnny Giles had a go at me on the field about it."

Jealousy, perhaps.
