The 43rd Ryder Cup gets underway on Friday at Whistling Straits, with the winner to be crowned on Sunday.

Team Europe are looking to retain the trophy after triumphing in Paris in 2018, while Team USA have won the trophy just once out of the last five times it has been contested.

To win the cup outright a team must claim 14-and-a-half of the 28 points available.

And there are there are 28 matches that will take place across the three days of action to try and achieve the magic number.

Each match is worth one point, but if the two sides are tied after 18 holes, a half point will be awarded to both teams.

Friday and Saturday's action involves four foursome and four fourball clashes, before all twelve players from each team take to the Whistling Straits course on Sunday in singles matches.

Spanish duo John Rahm and Sergio Garcia kick things off for Team Europe in Friday's first foursomes match – they go head to head against Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.

But before all of that there was the obligatory gala dinner and opening ceremony.

The wags impressed at Wednesday's opening ceremony in their own outfits, before once again catching eyes at Thursday's opening ceremony in their matching attire.
