Patrick Corbin won’t be coming to The Bronx.
The lefty has agreed to a deal with the Nationals, the Washington Post first reported. Corbin, who grew up in upstate New York, was a fan of the Yankees and some saw them as the favorite going into free agency. But according to The Post’s Joel Sherman, the Yankees were unwilling to go past a five-year offer for the 29-year-old.
The deal with the Nationals is for six years and $140 million, Sherman reported.
Corbin visited with the Phillies, Nationals and Yankees last week. He has a career 56-54 record with a 3.91 ERA.
