Opinion: Anthony Davis situation not going away now or in future

There are 30 teams in the NBA, and each and every one would like New Orleans’ Anthony Davis to play for them now and in the future.

That’s the nature of being a top-five player in the league.

It doesn’t make Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry wrong for voicing his frustration about Los Angeles Laker superstar LeBron James’ open wish to see Davis in a Lakers uniform.

James saying he would like to play alongside Davis – Gentry calls it tampering and a violation of league rules – is normal in today’s NBA.

As James said following the Lakers’ 112-104 victory over the Pelicans on Friday, “I would want to play with a lot of great players, that is just who I am."

This Davis-Lakers-James-Gentry commotion began when James said earlier this week a Lakers trade for Davis "would be amazing."
