LEEDS are ambitiously targeting Paris Saint-Germain's former Real Madrid star Jese Rodriguez ahead of a summer transfer, according to reports in Spain.
The Championship side are hoping to lure the forward, 26, to Elland Road as Marcelo Bielsa aims to finally break into the Premier League with his future in the balance.
Leeds missed out on promotion in 2018-19 after losing a thrilling play-off semi-final against Derby.
Now Bielsa is clearly dreaming big – as he has set his sights on a star summer signing.
Jese spent last season on loan at Real Betis, having enjoyed a year-long spell at Stoke in 2017-18.
However, the forward has struggled for goals, scoring just three times in the league across those two seasons.
DONE IN PARIS
The five-cap Spain Under-21 international scored 13 times in 63 La Liga games across five years in Real Madrid's first-team.
Jese signed for PSG in 2016, but has gone on to feature in just nine Ligue 1 matches, scoring just once – behind the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the pecking order.
His future in Paris looks to be over – with Leeds thought to be leading the race to sign him, according to reports in Spain.
After bursting onto the scene at the 2012 European Under-19 Championship – where Jese won the Golden Boot – the striker has failed to live up to the hype.
However, being on the books of two of the biggest clubs in Europe has weighed heavily on his shoulders.
A move to the Championship could be the perfect way for Jese to regain some form – and would go a long way towards helping Leeds finally return to the top-flight.
Compared to the rest of the top five in the second tier, Leeds struggled for goals, with just 73 goals in their 46 games – 20 adrift of champions Norwich.
Kemar Roofe top scored for the Elland Road side with 15 goals, but Leeds will want to give him more support in 2019-20.
