Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov has had a frustrating season.
And his frustration with a high-sticking call against him Thursday night led to an even bigger penalty.
He was called for high-sticking the Nashville Predators' Craig Smith at 13:09 of the second period. As Provorov was skating away, linesman Ryan Daisy placed his hand on the defenseman's back.
Provorov responded with a hard shove to Daisy's chest. He was assessed a 10-minute misconduct, and the combined 12 minutes equaled his penalty total for the season.
While Provorov was serving his penalties, Philadelphia's Radko Gudas (delay of game) and Andrew MacDonald (high-sticking) were penalized four seconds apart, but the Flyers managed to kill off the short-handed situation while down three defensemen.
