Everton set to sign Jack Harrison in loan transfer as Aston Villa fail with late bid to hijack deal for Leeds star | The Sun

ASTON VILLA have reportedly failed to hijack Jack Harrison’s Everton transfer.

The 26-year-old former Manchester City winger is currently in the Championship after suffering relegation with Leeds United last term.

Harrison was one of the few bright sparks for Leeds during a dismal campaign, managing six goals and ten assists in 40 appearances.

This week Everton triggered the relegation release clause in his contract for him to join them on an initial season-long loan.

That would then have eventually turned into a permanent arrangement.

Harrison travelled to Merseyside to agree personal terms and underwent a medical with the Blues.

However, he then looked set to join Aston Villa instead after a late phone call from boss Unai Emery allegedly convinced him to snub Sean Dyche’s side.

That was according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted: “Understand Jack Harrison has decided to join Aston Villa after direct call with Unai Emery.

“Despite medical tests at Everton, he’ll now prepare travel for medical at Villa — been his first choice.

“Villa already agreed loan deal with Leeds by activating relegation clause.”

But now The Athletic have provided a further update on the situation, and they claim that Harrison has decided to join Everton after completing his medical at Finch Farm today.

And now there are only the contracts left to sign for the move to be done and dusted.

The news will come as a huge boost for Dyche after a frustrating summer on the transfer front.

His team also suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Fulham yesterday in their opening match of the season.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa also endured a miserable start to the campaign as they were thumped 5-1 at Newcastle.
