Eddie Hearn admits he regrets confronting fan following Anthony Joshua defeat after being called 'p****'

EDDIE HEARN has admitted he regrets his blazing row with a fan following Anthony Joshua's defeat at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk and suggested emotions were just running high.

The Matchroom promoter, 42, was heading back to the dressing room at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after watching AJ lose via unanimous decision.

As stony-faced Hearn trudged out of the arena, one fan can be heard screaming 'p***y' at him.

Hearn immediately swivelled to face the crowd before launching a verbal assault of his own.

The seething Matchroom chief angrily demanded 'what did you say?' four times.

He then added: "Yeah, you s*** yourself now."

But Hearn has expressed remorse for his actions, admitting he was so pumped up he would have 'taken on 40 people'.

Hearn told iFL TV: "I shouldn't have done it, but we spend our lives listening to people online that give you abuse.

"It's not because I'm a tough guy. At that moment I would've taken on about 40 people!

"But yeah, I shouldn't have done it."

After the fight, Hearn confirmed Joshua would immediately trigger his rematch clause with Usyk.

But the promoter has urged AJ to change his style in the second fight with Ukrainian after saying trying to outbox Usyk was a 'terrible idea'.

Hearn claimed: "I don't know whether it was almost a rebellious thing where it's like, 'No, I'm going to go in there and outbox him'.

"Just a terrible idea, terrible idea. But don't forget, Usyk negates things that you want to try and do.

"So maybe he wanted to be a little bit more aggressive, wasn't able to at specific times because of the brilliance.

"I don't want to just say, 'Bad game plan, bad performance'. You've got to give unbelievable credit to Usyk, he's brilliant."
