Conor McGregor shows off lethal spinning kick ahead of Dustin Poirier fight that he says 'might be THE shot'

CONOR McGREGOR is in loose form at the start of fight week judging from the spinning kick he showed off in front of his son.

The 32-year-old launched a wheel kick on a dummy inside his stunning hotel room in the last minute of episode one of UFC 257 Embedded.

Afterwards a delighted McGregor said: "That might do it now. That might be the shot. Stay tuned."

It was noticeable last time out in the Donald Cerrone fight how he did go back to his arsenal of spinning kicks from earlier in his career.

In his more recent UFC showings fans have become accustomed to him relying strictly on his boxing with the occasional leg kick mixed in.

Dustin Poirier does present more of a takedown threat, however, which may make The Notorious a bit more hesitant to try such a high-risk move come fight night.

SHOW-STOPPER

It would certainly be one way to put on the 'spectacular' showing that nemesis Khabib Nurmagomedov is apparently looking for to tempt him out of retirement.

Highly-anticipated talks between Dana White and the Lightweight champ ended with the UFC chief saying the 30-0 wrestling phenom is open to a comeback.

White said: "So next Saturday, we got the McGregor/Poirier fight and Chandler and Hooker on there.

"So his words to me were: 'I'm going to watch this fight. I would never tie-up the division, hold the belt and keep the belt away from anybody else.

"If these guys do something spectacular – show me something spectacular and make me want to come back and fight.'

"So, I have the feeling that if somebody delivers – it could be on the co-main event or the main event and, as I said, he thought Oliveira looked good.

"So, two fights coming up, Oliveira looked great – if these guys can do something special – Khabib will fight them."
