Christmas Hurdle runners and riders: Your pinstickers' guide to the Kempton contest on Boxing Day

Nicky Henderson's superb hurdler will be the toast of Kempton after he once again proves his class in a weak division.

Boite 1/5

Not your boi' I'm afraid. Fair play to Warren Greatrex for having a go here, but I'm sure he'd be the first to admit he'd be happy with fourth and a larger chunk of the prize money.

Has stones to find on the red hot favourite and truly would be a Christmas miracle if he caused an upset here.

The odds of 100-1 look a bit short and that tells the tale.

Buveur D'Air 5/5

The 'Air to your throne. A class apart from these and it's telling that his fiercest rival is likely to be stablemate Verdana Blue.

Stamped his class over the likes of Samcro last time in the Fighting Fifth and he'll be better suited by conditions at Kempton.

This looks another Christmas walk in the park before he goes on to claim the Champion Hurdle in March.

Global Citizen 3/5

No globetrotter. An interesting candidate and certainly a horse going places, but this is a huge step up.

Likely to be a player in good races down the line but this is by far his sternest test so far.

I think he'll prove better than a 150 horse in the coming seasons, but it's more than likely he'll be fighting for third this time around.

If The Cap Fits 2/5

This Cap doesn't fit. Well beaten by Verdana Blue two starts ago but won well enough at Ascot after that.

He was not as convincing as hoped that day though and Old Guard gave him a run for his money.

Old Guard would be nowhere in this and that shows you the task that faces Harry Fry's youngster in this.

Verdana Blue 3/5

I'verd it all. No doubt this mare is Henderson's second string, but he'd be disappointed if she doesn't cruise into second here.

She loves it at Kempton and will be praying the rain stays away.

She ran well enough in the Greatwood under a huge weight and she has the experience edge on her rivals for the runner-up slot.

She could be worth chancing in a forecast with the main man Buveur D'Air.
