Chelsea transfer news: Thomas Tuchel's FIVE most likely January deals ahead of replacing Frank Lampard, Verratti backed

FORMER Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel is set to be unveiled as Chelsea's new manager.

The German, who led PSG to two successive Ligue 1 titles, will replace Stamford Bridge hero Frank Lampard, who was sacked after 18 months in charge.

But with just seven days of the transfer window remaining – Tuchel will have to act quickly to make any additions to his squad.

Here, SunSport take a closer look at the FIVE most likely arrivals before the deadline passes on February 2, according to odds supplied by bookmakers Betfair.

Declan Rice – 5/1

West Ham star Declan Rice has been on Chelsea's radar for several months.

The Blues tried and failed to sign the midfielder over the summer with David Moyes' side unwilling to budge on their £80m valuation.

But Chelsea have been offered a glimmer of hope with The Guardian claiming their Premier League rivals would do business for around £50m.

And Betfair make it a 5/1 shot that Rice arrives at Stamford Bridge over the next seven days.

However, Tuchel might decide to steer clear after claims from The Athletic that Lampard's frequent requests for Rice's signature contributed to his dismissal.

Chelsea most likely January signings under Thomas Tuchel – Betfair

  • Declan Rice – 5/1
  • Idrissa Gueye – 10/1
  • Marco Verratti – 10/1
  • Marcel Sabitzer – 16/1

Idrissa Gueye – 10/1

Tuchel was the driving force behind PSG's £30m signing of Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye back in 2019.

The Senegal international, 31, played a prominent first-team role as the Parisian side won the Ligue 1 title and reached the Champions League final.

However, the midfielder now look surplus to requirements under new boss Mauricio Pochettino having failed to feature in their last three outings.

Betfair make it a 10/1 shot that Gueye follows Tuchel to West London.

Marco Verratti – 10/1

"He's one of the best midfielders in the world.

"I'm delighted to be his coach. I'm really pleased he's with us because he's an extraordinary player with a very rare mindset."

That's how Tuchel referred to Italian star Marco Verratti during their time together at the Parc des Princes.

And the 28-year-old, who is contracted until June 2024, is now priced at 10/1 to join Chelsea this window.

Marcel Sabitzer – 16/1

RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer is a wanted man.

The midfielder is understood to have rejected a new deal with the Bundesliga heavyweights and plenty of clubs are queuing up to grab his signature.

London duo Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with the 26-year-old Austrian.

And RB Leipzig may have to consider cashing in on their prizes asset, who has now entered the final 18 months of his contract.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting – 20/1

Stoke… PSG… Bayern Munich… Chelsea?

That could be the unexpected career path of forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, according to the bookies.

Choupo-Moting joined Bayern on a one-year contract in October and he's started in reasonable fashion having scored three goals in 12 appearances.

He's 20/1 to join Chelsea this week.

Betfair Spokesperson, Sam Rosbottom said: "With Thomas Tuchel all but announced as new Chelsea boss, he will want to be working hard to shape his team the way he wants.

"And with just over one week until the transfer window closes he will have to work fast if he wants to get any new players in.

"Looking at who could come into Chelsea, Declan Rice is looking most likely with the punters, the West Ham midfielder is currently 5/1 to move across London.

"Idrissa Gueye and Marco Verratti are both 10/1 to move to Stamford Bridge, while Marcel Sabitzer is 16/1.

"Eric Choupo-Moting, who has previous experience playing in the Premier League from his time with Stoke City, is a 20/1 shot."
