Chelsea pair Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech slammed for costing Blues points with tricks and ‘dribbling past ten players’

CHELSEA pair Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech were slammed for costing the Blues points with their tricks and 'dribbling past ten players'.

The summer signings have not hit the ground running just yet since arriving for a combined £108million.

And Tim Cahill reckons they are being overindulgent with the ball at their feet.

That in turn has had implications at both ends of the pitch for Frank Lampard's side.

Speaking about Chelsea's struggles, Cahill told Football Focus: "These are individual errors, it’s not the tactics. It’s a mentality, it’s individuals not focusing for 95 minutes.

"On top of that you see the goals they concede. You see Havertz, he’s trying to do a trick, trying to nutmeg someone and he loses it. [Danny] Ings is on the front foot, they’re ready, waiting and pounces.

"They’re all little errors and mistakes from individuals.

"Frank Lampard brings on Ziyech and again dribbling, when to dribble, what areas to dribble, understanding where to do it.

"There’s non-negotiables and they are don’t try and nutmeg someone on the edge of your own area, the other non-negotiable is stop dribbling and taking on ten players."

Havertz has started all five of Chelsea's Premier League matches so far, scoring once and grabbing two assists – although he did get himself a hat-trick in the Carabao Cup win over Barnsley.

Ziyech, however, missed the start of the season through injury.

He came off the bench in the draws with Southampton and Sevilla but is yet to make much of an impact following his arrival from Ajax.

And the Moroccan must wait for his first start as he is still not fully match fit.
