BARCELONA’S squad have reportedly ‘turned on Philippe Coutinho over his attitude problem’ following the controversy against Celta Vigo.
The Brazilian was summoned from the bench and looked set to replace the injured Ansu Fati with his team three up in what turned out to be a 3-3 draw in LaLiga.
However, he was believed to have been snubbed by stand-in boss Sergi Barjuan due to his 'poor attitude' while warming-up.
Fati went down injured just before half-time and Barjuan signalled to the former Liverpool man to get ready.
But the cameras caught the 29-year-old's somewhat lackadaisical approach to the warm-up which angered his temporary boss, according to Sport.
The Spanish outlet described Coutinho's approach as 'excessive laziness' as he slumped down the line.
Now Mundo Deportivo is claiming that the rest of Barcelona's locker room is fed up with the club-record signing’s attitude.
And the former Liverpool playmaker’s conduct is also allegedly becoming an issue in training, says Esport3.
Today’s latest reports state several of Barca’s more experienced stars expressed their anger and disappointment with the 29-year-old after the Celta clash.
Coutinho has now joined up with the Brazil squad for international duty and he has already come out to defend himself over the allegations from the weekend.
Ahead of his country’s upcoming matches with Colombia and Argentina, he said: “I was very surprised when I saw the news because in all my career I have never been unprofessional.
“They can look wherever I went, I always respected everyone.
“Since I’ve been fit I’ve not had a run of four or five games starting to show my best level.”
New boss Xavi, who replaced Ronald Koeman, will be in charge for Barcelona’s next game against Espanyol.
However, interim Barjuan has attempted to play-down the claims over Coutinho from the match with Celta.
He said: “I didn’t focus on any of that, I was watching the game, which was very demanding. In 10 days I’ve felt everyone gets along with me.
“It’s clear that with those who haven’t played it’s harder. I’ve had to take decisions and he did not play today.”
