Asda outline their latest safety measures during the pandemic
Many parts of the UK have been put into stricter coronavirus lockdown measures in the last few days and weeks. While visiting supermarkets is allowed, many will choose to order food online.
Since the coronavirus pandemic began, supermarkets have updated their delivery services and added more slots.
This is what shoppers can expect from their local supermarkets.
Tesco
The supermarket giant has increased the number of slots available for online delivery.
An email from Tesco UK CEO Jason Tarry said: “Since March, we have more than doubled home delivery and Click+Collect slots to 1.5 million a week, with over 760,000 vulnerable customers registered with us who are eligible for priority slots.”

The retailer offers Delivery Savers plans for a monthly fee of £7.99.
The plan includes unlimited free delivery when the minimum basket price is spent.
However, the retailer has temporarily stopped accepting new sign-ups to manage the availability of slots.
Shoppers can pick from other slots which costs £4.50 and there are various one hour slots available.
Asda
Britons can get delivery slots throughout the week, with weekends being the most popular.
The price of delivery costs between £1 and £6.50 depending on the time it is delivered.
All deliveries will also take place contact free to ensure the safety of colleagues and customers.
The supermarket giant offers a Delivery Pass which allows any time delivery for £5 a month for 12 months.
However, due to increased demand, the sale of these passes has temporarily been put on hold.
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s has also put delivery passes on hold due to high demand.
Still, shoppers can pick up cheap delivery from the supermarket chain.
The website states: “Spend £40 or more and we’ll drop off your online shopping when it suits you from £1.”
Customers can also pick up free delivery if they spend more than £100 and choose a slot after 2pm on Mondays to Thursdays.
Marks & Spencer
Marks & Spencer has recently expanded its food range that is available to order through Ocado.
Shoppers can pick from more than 750 items including groceries, clothing, homeware and cookware.
Delivery is charged between £2.99 and £6.99, with purchases over £75 being delivered for free.
