Ten charming years of Prince George on his birthday

As Prince George takes another huge step forward, we look at ten charming years in the life of a future King…

  • Prince George was born on July 22, 2013, in St Mary’s Hospital, London
  • Today, we celebrate the young royal and look back at key moments in his life
  • The prince will become the UK’s seventh King George when he takes the throne

A new portrait of Prince George released to mark his tenth birthday, today

It’s an image both relaxed and confident and, released by Kensington Palace to mark Prince George’s tenth birthday, shows a boy on the verge of becoming a young man.

Second-in-line to the throne after his father, the Prince of Wales, George will by now sense a weight on his shoulders.

But with parents who are doing their level best to protect him, he is showing a winning mixture of diligence and charm.

Once a shy boy (understandably) who would hold his mother’s hand in public, the ten-year-old George has left all that behind him – and stands on the verge of a very different life.

William and Catherine, then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed their first child and heir to the British throne, Prince George Alexander Louis, ten years ago today on July 22, 2013.
