For some people, popping the question is a spur of the moment decision, for others it’s something that needs to be meticulously planned.
From the location, to the time, there’s a lot to think about – with the ring playing a pretty big part in it all.
Proposals are a life-changing moment for all involved, but nothing quite kills the moment like hating the ring you’ve been presented with – and are subsequently expected to wear until death do you part.
However one man came up with a clever way to ensure he wouldn’t make a mistake when it came to selecting the right ring.
Proposal turns to nightmare when Brit’s engagement ring falls down drain in NYC
Instead of stressing over carats and cuts, model and fitness enthusiast Dennis Brown II decided to let his girlfriend choose her own ring by proposing with not one sparkly rock, but six.
And if that weren’t enough, he also hired an event planner, stylist, photographer, videographer, make-up artist and a florist to ensure everything about the proposal was perfect.
Dennis got down on one knee in front of an enormous banner containing a romantic message and surprised his partner, Atara Dallas, with six engagement rings, all different shapes and sizes.
The bride-to-be accepted his grand gesture and picked out a dazzling teardrop shaped sparkler.
The groom later shared some snaps from the grand gesture on Instagram and captioned them: "I won at life with her, so she deserves six rings to choose from."
Atara described the big moment as "perfection".
Many people took the time to comment on the posts, praising the proposal as "amazingly thoughtful" and "beautiful".
However not everyone was convinced it was the right way to do it.
Some slammed the whole thing, saying Dennis was "setting the bar too high" for other guys, while others joked he only bought six rings because "he knew he was taking the rest back."
A few people also suggested that the reason he had to buy so many rings was because he didn’t know his girlfriend well enough to make a decision.
Either way, there’s no denying all the rings look spectacular and we’re feeling pretty jealous of Atara right now.
