Amber Galloway Gallego lets her fingers do the rapping.
Sure, Twista was declared the “fastest rapper of all time” back in the day when he clocked in at 280 words per minute — but certified American Sign Language interpreter Galloway Gallego, 42, is giving him some stiff competition.
Let’s be blunt: The 42-year-old Texan with a distinctive shock of magenta hair stole the show when she shared the stage with Twista, 45, Saturday in Charlotte, NC.
Twitter is blowing up over a viral video clip of Galloway Gallego more than keeping pace with Twista. Since it was posted over the weekend, the clip of her wicked hustle and flow has racked up more than 1 million views and garnered 42,000-plus likes and 11,000 retweets.
“I’m not deaf but damn that s–t slap,” tweeted one new fan, pretty much summing up the overall vibe of online hip-hop sensation.
But this isn’t the first time Galloway Gallego has gone viral. She’s actually a superstar in the ASL world.
Nah, we’re not talking about her tony Ted Talk — “How Sign Language Can Bring Music to Life” — in 2018. She’s been in the rap game for years now.
The motivational speaker and equal-access advocate boasts more than 400 performances with artists ranging from Eminem and Snoop Dogg to Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky.
Galloway Gallego said she always wanted to become “the first white female rapper” — and refused to be limited. “[I] turned this passion and gift into a specialization in music interpreting, especially hip-hop and rap,” she posted on her website.
