People have take to Twitter to poke fun at the Prince of Wales over beard-based ‘jealousy’ towards his younger brother Prince Harry, 38.

In his explosive memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex revealed a number of grievances and altercations he had against Prince William, including when William told him to shave his beard off before his wedding to wedding Meghan Markle.

This story was retold during the 90 minute interview Harry used to plug his memoir with ITV presenter and old friend Tom Bradby.

This sparked outrage among many viewers, who took to Twitter to joke that William was  ‘jelly’ and ‘petty’ because Harry was allowed to keep his beard, while his brother had to shave off the facial hair that ‘ladies swooned over’.

People have taken to Twitter to label Prince William as ‘jealous’ and ‘childish’ after his brother Prince Harry claimed William ordered him to shave off his beard

One person commented: ‘Prince William was crying about Harry having a beard on his wedding Day…

Others took a more jovial view and humoured the future King, with one person saying that the ladies ‘swooned over him’ when he had a beard

Prince Harry was granted permission to keep his beard for his wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018. Something that William was not allowed to do for his own wedding

Twitter users, believed Harry’s account and were enraged by William’s alleged behaviour, with many calling him ‘childish’ and ‘jealous’

A second tweeted: ‘#HarryandMeghanExposed Prince William as the pettiest most jealous brother with anger issues even a BEARD can set him off!’

While a third posted: ‘why tf was Prince William mad Prince Harry got to keep his beard (for Harry’s wedding)? that mf is so salty and jealous! that’s yalls next king?’

Another tweeted: ‘Prince William wanting and urging Harry to shave his beard because HE had to … very childish…. he just became jealous in my opinion’

Harry explained that he had to ask permission from his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, to have a beard for his wedding in 2018, a prviledge that was not granted to William when he wed Kate Middleton in 2011.

Prince William briefly had facial hair in 2008 (pictured here), but many Twitter users said they could not remember a time with the royal did have a beard

Harry explained how he asked his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, permission to have a beard on his wedding day

He wrote in his book: ‘And yet I now dared to make another ask – Granny, please, may I, for my wedding, keep my beard?

‘Not a small ask either. A beard was thought by some to be a clear violation of protocol and long-standing norms, especially since I was getting married in my Army uniform. Beards were forbidden in the British Army.’

However, when Harry was granted permission by his grandmother to keep the facial hair, William ‘became livid’.

Harry reports his brother saying: ‘You put her in an uncomfortable position, Harold! She had no choice but to say yes.’

Prince Harry said that Prince William wouldn’t let the issue go because he hadn’t been allowed to have facial hair for his own wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011 (pictured)

Some Twitter users took a jovial view to Harry’s claims and said that William was unable to grow a beard. However, a few people said they preferred the future King with facial hair

Harry added that William ‘wouldn’t let it go’ and that the argument continued ‘in person, on the phone, for more than a week’.

It culminated, according to Harry, with William ordering him to shave his beard off.

Harry says he replied: ‘For the love of God, Willy, why does this matter so much to you?’

‘Because I wasn’t allowed to keep my beard.’

Harry concludes: ‘Ah, there it was. After he’d come back from an assignment with Special Forces, Willy was sporting a full beard, and someone told him to be a good boy, run along and shave it. He hated the idea of me enjoying a perk he’d been denied.’

This behaviour, reported by Harry, outraged many viewers and readers and more of them took to Twitter to comment on what they had heard.
