Prince Harry Never Got a Chance To Spend a Lot of Time With Prince Louis, Insider Says

It’s no secret that Prince Harry has always loved kids. Even before he welcomed his own son, Archie Harrison, in May 2019, the Duke of Sussex was often seen playing with children at royal events and engagements and gushing over them,

Additionally, Prince Harry has always been close to his brother, Prince William’s children, especially Prince George and Princess Charlotte. When he lived at Kensington Palace near the Cambridges, he was often seen playing with his niece and nephew. He once told Daily Mail, “I could never wish them away. They are the most amazing things ever.”

Though he was able to bond with his older niece and nephew, Prince Harry and Prince Louis never really got a chance to bond or spend a great deal of time together.

Prince Harry thought Archie would be best friends with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis

Though there was still some lingering tension between himself and Prince William by the time his son, Archie was born, the Duke of Sussex hoped his son would be best friends with his cousins.

After all, though Prince Harry struggled in royal life, family has always been important to him. In Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s Finding Freedom, they write, “Harry had an image of getting married and spending time with William and Kate, the two couples together, their children best friends.”

Unfortunately, that never came to fruition, the royal brothers continued to drift apart, Meghan and Kate never really bonded, and now the Sussexes live across the world from the royals. “The Cambridge children have actually only met Archie a handful of times,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight.

Prince Harry brought Prince Louis a $10,000 book

Despite everything that was happening between himself and Prince William, Prince Harry always made an effort with his niece and nephews. When Prince Louis was baptized in July 2018, just a couple of months after he married Meghan, the duke dropped a massive chunk of money on a gift.

The Sun reported that the prince purchased Prince Louis a first-edition copy of Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne, printed in 1926. Prince Harry apparently loves to contribute to the Cambridge kiddos library since he has such fond memories of reading with Princess Diana.

“One of Harry’s happiest childhood memories was being read a bedtime story by his mother,” an insider told The Sun. “She loved all the old classics and Harry had the brilliant idea of starting a little library of first editions for Louis, Charlotte, and George to enjoy as they get older.”

Prince Harry never got a chance to spend much time with Prince Louis

Unfortunately, since schedules got hectic, and the brothers fell out, Prince Harry never got a chance to bond with Prince Louis like he was able to with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

“The brothers went from always making time for each other to barely spending any time together, Scobie and Durand write in Finding Freedom. “Harry had always loved popping across the grounds of the palace to see Charlotte and George, bringing them gifts that including an electronic SUV for his nephew and a tricycle for Charlotte.”

By the time Prince Louis was born, Prince William and Prince Harry were barely speaking. Per The Mirror,

Those visits came to a halt by that summer of 2017. Harry spent less time with Prince Louis than the others because of the growing tension between him and his brother after the baby’s birth. The distance came in both directions as Harry spent less time going over to see the children but the invites from William and Kate were the first to dry up.
