On Friday, Kensington Palace released the official royal Christmas cards, and Prince William and Kate Middleton’s family portrait stood out for one very adorable reason.
The couple’s eldest son Prince George, 5, is known for stealing the show in photos with his hilarious faces and flamboyant outfits.
This season, however, the entire family — including George — dressed down in jeans and autumnal sweaters. The young prince wears a button-down shirt, sweater and Hunter rain boots in the photo.
While Wills, Kate and George are all seen wearing denim, Princess Charlotte, 3, and Prince Louis, 7 months, both wear blue corduroy: Charlotte in a skirt and tights and Louis, making his Christmas card debut, in shorts and tights.
The photo, which wouldn’t look out of place in a J.Crew catalogue, was taken in early fall at the royals’ country home Anmer Hall in Norfolk. Last year, the then-family of four posed in matching blue suits and dresses for a much more formal card.
This year, it was Meghan Markle and Prince Harry who chose a fancier-feeling photo: The newlyweds opted for a never-before-seen black-and-white photograph from their wedding reception at Frogmore Castle, with fireworks in the background.
Meghan and Harry are expecting their first child in spring 2019, and will perhaps choose a more traditional family portrait with their newborn next year.
