Cecilia said: “Here’s my secret to naturally white teeth without the use of harsh chemicals and it literally costs $1.
“Grab your toothbrush and toothpaste. I use Boka. Grab a can of baking soda and brush your teeth as you normally would. It’s super easy, chemical free, and only costs one dollar.”
Cecilia to her followers: “I just lightly dip the toothbrush with toothpaste on it into the baking soda can. Many of my friends have noticed a big difference.”
Is cleaning your teeth with baking soda safe?
Using baking soda to clean your teeth can help to keep them fresh and white, and it is safe. It is as effective as fluoride for protecting teeth.
It has natural tooth-whitening properties because it’s particularly good at lifting stains from teeth. This is because it is mildly abrasive, and so it buffs the stains away.
It is for this reason that baking soda appears in a lot of toothpaste already. Arm & Hammer is a popular brand in the UK, which claims to lift the colour of teeth. Bicarbonate of soda can be bought cheaply in the UK. Boots Pharmaceuticals Sodium Bicarbonate costs just £1.60 for 200g from Boots.

As for her toothpaste, the wellness expert uses the Coco Ginger Toothpaste from Boka, which costs £10. The toothpaste uses nano-hydroxyapatite instead of fluoride, and tasts of coconut paired with ginger with notes of the chamomile flower.
She told her followers: “I started using it during the beginning of the pandemic – it’s a really clean toothpaste, much better than typical drugstore ones!”
