It’s official: Meghan Markle’s heading back to Hollywood — well, kind of …
Disney officially announced on Thursday morning that the Duchess of Sussex narrated Disney+ documentary Elephant, which will be available to stream on April 3.
This collaboration was put in motion ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s January announcement that they’d be stepping down as senior members of the royal family. It’s speculated that Prince Harry put Markle’s narration skills on Disney radar at the London premiere of The Lion King in July, when he was overheard telling former Disney CEO Bob Iger, “You know she does voiceovers.”
According to The Times, Markle will not be directly compensated for her voice work. Instead, her salary will be donated to wildlife conservation charity Elephants Without Borders.
Of course, this is only the first post-royal move from Markle. What’s to come? Don’t bet on a Suits movie, but surely this isn’t the last of the actress-cum-duchess’s work in show business.
