DEAR DEIDRE: I CAN’T decide whether it is OK to have sex with someone who is not my boyfriend or whether I should wait to have sex for the first time with someone special.
I am 16 and have been speaking online to a boy for a while. He is 19.

I am attracted to him and would love to meet and for him to be my boyfriend.
We are good friends but not in a relationship.
He now wants to have sex with me.
I want to but I’m nervous, as it would be my first time.
I worry about the age difference, too.
I keep putting him off but he wants me to give him an answer soon.
DEIDRE SAYS: It is not OK for him to put you under pressure to have sex.
That in itself is good reason to tell him no.
He wouldn’t pressure you if he genuinely cared for you.
It is best to wait to have sex until you are with someone you really care for and who cares about you.
My e-leaflet, Learning About Relationships, explains more.
