Gogglebox favourites Tremaine, Twaine and Tristan Plummer have cemented their place in the hearts of fans everywhere with their irreverent take on the week’s telly as part of the telly watching show’s cast.
Yet while we often sit down on a Friday night to tune in and see them give their verdicts on the hottest shows to hit our screens in the past seven days, Gogglebox isn’t actually a full time gig, and the three stars actually live a seriously enviable life away from the cameras too.
From sun-soaked getaways to Dubai and Jamaica through to an exciting Pro football past, the brothers have certainly been living a life of luxury when they’re not on the Channel 4 show.
But what exactly is their life off screen like?
As members of the Gogglebox cast, the trio only bag £1,500 a month for their whole household, along with a free takeaway to enjoy while filming the show. When split evenly, £500 a piece isn’t much to live on, so the brothers also work a day job too, alongside their televised side hustle.
Tristan for example, enjoyed a professional footballing career when he played for Championship club Bristol City from 2007 to 2010, before being loaned out to other teams such as Luton Town and Gillingham.
He went on to play for Weston-super-Mare and Frome Town, among others, and still plies his trade today as a winger for Bitton AFC, who play in the Western League Premier Division, the ninth tier of English football.
His brother Twaine also pursed a footballing career for Bradford Town, as did his older brother Dwayne, (who doesn’t appear on the show) but has carved a name for himself alongside City and Bristol Rovers.
Unlike his sporting brothers, Tremaine meanwhile works as a journalist, where he presents a breakfast radio show on Bristol's Ujima FM.
From their chemistry on screen, it’s easy to see that the brothers are all close and that family is hugely important to all of them.
But away from our screens Tristan is a dedicated dad to two children, a son and a daughter, while Twaine is a doting father to a son.
The brothers sadly lost both their parents in 2021, with Tristan sharing an emotional tribute to his late mum on August 10, 2021, as he wrote: “This One Hurts Posting, This R.I.P. My Queen, Still In Shock.. April 8, 2021.”
Although no cause of death was given, her death did coincide with the Covid 19 pandemic, with many fans believing this may have been the cause.
Outside of their immediate family, the brothers also have two famous musicians for relatives too, Mills Otizzy and DJ Eazy.
One little known fact about the brothers, is that Tremaine previously suffered from bowel cancer, but was successfully able to beat the disease after undergoing a gruelling treatment regimen.
Reflecting on his life in 2020, as he celebrated five years cancer free, Tremaine wrote: “When I first saw this photo it made me feel sick and weak. I hated this photo for a long time. But now this photo is my medal. This was me 5 years ago. Post surgery for bowel cancer.”
“One of the worst things that could have happened to me has turned into one of the best. Not everything bad that happens to you is the end. Out of some bad shit comes good shit. The entire experience has been an eye opener and I view life totally different now. Stay strong.”
