Every celeb that pulled out of Strictly as Nicola Adams is axed following positive coronavirus test

Nicola Adams has been forced to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing this year after her professional dance partner Katya Jones tested positive for coronavirus.

It was a big blow for the former professional boxer after she made history as part of the first same-sex couple to take part in the BBC dancing competition.

And while the rules have had to be strict to make sure everyone has been adhering to guidelines due to the pandemic, it’s not the first time that celebrity contestants have had to make the decision to leave or quit Strictly.

Let’s take a look at those who have gave up their coveted spots on the BBC dancing competition…

Jamie Laing

Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing was signed up for the 2019 series and had been partnered up with champion Oti Mabuse. But an injury in the first group dance on the launch night forced him to quit before he’d even begun. Luckily for the reality star show bosses allowed him to resume his spot for the 2020 series

Kelly Brook

Kelly Brook was partnered with Brendan Cole for the 2007 series of Strictly but during her time on the competition her father Kenneth who had been diagnosed with cancer sadly passed away. She initially decided to carry on dancing but then withdrew. Kelly returned to the show for the Christmas special the following year and also took part in the Strictly Tour.

Will Young

In series 14, Will Young was partnered with Karen Hauer for Strictly Come Dancing but quit three weeks into the show. He later shared that he withdrew from the show for his own mental wellbeing after suffering with addiction and not because of his poor scores.

Jade Johnson

Jade Johnson took part in series 7 of Strictly in 2009, but was forced to quit the show after suffering a knee injury. The champion long jumper said she heard her knee "pop" during rehearsals and sat one week out but then decided to quit the show altogether. She later claimed that taking part ruined her chances of joining the London 2012 Olympics after the injury flared up during the trials.

John Sergeant

John Sergeant shocked viewers when he stepped down from the show in 2008 after he found himself knocking better contestants out of the show due to his popularity. He was partnered with Kristina Rihanoff and received the lowest scores each week but viewers voted to keep him in.

Jimmy Tarbuck

Jimmy Tarbuck was paired with Flavia Cacace in series 4, but was forced to give up his position when doctors told him he needed to rest for his health. The 80 year old, who was 66 at the time, said he was "absolutely devastated".

Nicola Adams

Nicola Adams had made history as part of the first same-sex couple on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020. Show bosses had put in place strict guidelines to make sure the competition could still go ahead amidst the coronavirus pandemic but unfortunately Katya tested positive meaning they were both axed.
