Do YOU live in Britain’s luckiest area? People’s Postcode Lottery reveals the counties with the most winners – and it’s good news if you live in the north

  • Number of winners of £3million jackpot more than double in north of England
  • Research found postcodes starting with S are most likely to win the £1,000 draw
  • Greater Manchester had the most £30,000 winners in 2019, followed by Kent
  • Rutland and the Isle of Wight are the least lucky counties according to research

It’s the time of the year when many of us could benefit from having a few extra quid in our pockets – and if you live in the north, it may be worth a punt on the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Research has revealed you are more than twice as likely to bag the £3million jackpot if you’re a resident in the north of England, as only 18 out of the 45 winners (37 per cent) have been from the south.

Housing agent sellhousefast.uk investigated which areas of the UK are home to the most frequent winners according to the People’s Postcode Lottery’s recent results.

Despite the north being the home to the majority of winners, postcodes in Devon have actually had the most £3million winners – five since 2016.

In second place is Greater Manchester, with four winners, followed by Worcester and Merseyside in third place with three winners each.

And you’re least likely to win if you live in Scotland or Wales, as no prizes have been given out to postcodes in these areas since the £3million draw began in 2016.

In the past year the luckiest postcodes have been in the Yorkshire area – two out of the nine winning postcodes were within an hours’ drive of each other (29 miles apart).

When it comes to the £30,000 draw, since 2018 Greater London has had the most luck overall, with the highest number of winners in the UK.

In Scotland, living in Lanarkshire gives you the highest chance of winning the pot, with six winners so far in 2019, while in Wales, just six people have won £30,000 across the country.
