Disney+ Day: Every New Marvel Series Streaming in 2022 and Beyond

Marvel Studios fans have plenty to look forward to from Disney+ in the coming months. The streaming service’s special Disney+ Day event on Nov. 12 featured announcements for dozens of its upcoming original releases, including an entire portion dedicated to Marvel. First, fans caught another look at Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner in Hawkeye, a new series arriving on Nov. 24. Then, Marvel unveiled several brand new original series. Here’s the lineup of Disney+ Day Marvel announcements.

‘Moon Knight’ (2022)

Disney+ offered a first look at Marvel’s Moon Knight, starring Oscar Isaac as the titular character. This original series follows the adventures of Moon Knight, a vigilante hero with dissociative identity disorder.

“The multiple identities who live inside him find themselves thrust into a deadly war of the gods against the backdrop of modern and ancient Egypt,” Marvel’s description of the series reads.

Directed by Mohamed Diab, Moon Knight will premiere on Disney+ in 2022.

‘She-Hulk’ (2022)

Marvel fans also caught a preview of She-Hulk, starring Tatiana Maslany. The comedy series follows lawyer Jennifer Walters as she becomes the She-Hulk and navigates her super-strength. In addition to Maslany, She-Hulk will feature Mark Ruffalo as Hulk and Tim Roth as the Abomination. She-Hulk arrives sometime in 2022.

‘Ms. Marvel’ (summer 2022)

Marvel’s final Disney+ Day “first look” segment showcased Ms. Marvel. Iman Vellani stars as 16-year-old Kamala Kahn, a Pakistani American living in Jersey City. Marvel describes Kamala as “an aspiring artist, an avid gamer, a voracious fan-fiction scribe,” and, of course, a huge Avengers fan. Kamala is particularly fond of Captain Marvel, so she’s thrilled when she discovers that she now has powers similar to her favorite hero.

Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ next summer.

‘X-Men 97’ (2023)

Classic X-Men fans can look forward to a new animated series on Disney+, called X-Men ’97. The show will tell new X-Men stories “in the iconic 90s timeline of the original series,” according to Marvel. X-Men ’97 arrives in 2023.

‘What if…?’ Season 2 (TBA)

Marvel’s What If…? took the world by storm in 2021, but the story isn’t over. Disney+ has officially announced season 2, which will see the return of The Watcher. As Marvel notes, The Watcher will “meet new heroes and explore more strange new worlds in the MCU’s ever-expanding Multiverse.” What If…? Season 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, but Disney+ assured it’s “coming soon.”

‘Echo’ (TBA)

Fans of Hawkeye will want to tune in to Echo, a follow-up series arriving at a later date. Disney+ revealed that Alaqua Cox will first appear as Maya Lopez in Hawkeye before receiving her own series. Echo will mark a milestone for Marvel and Disney+, as Maya will be the first Native American and born-deaf hero to receive a series.

‘Spider-Man: Freshman Year’ (TBA)

Spider-Man fans can take a look at young Peter Parker’s early days in Spider-Man: Freshman Year, an animated series coming soon. According to Marvel, the show will follow Peter’s journey to becoming Spider-Man in a way “that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.”

‘I Am Groot’ (TBA)

Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Groot will receive the attention he deserves in I Am Groot, a new animated series of shorts. The shorts will take a look at Baby Groot as he grows up and causes mischief in the galaxy.

‘Ironheart’ (TBA)

Move over, Iron Man. Dominique Thorne will soon star as Riri Williams, an inventor who creates the next big state-of-the-art suit of armor. But how will Riri’s invention compare to Tony Stark’s? Fans can tune in to Ironheart on Disney+ to find out.

‘Agatha: House of Harkness’ (TBA)

There’s no word yet from Disney on WandaVision Season 2, but a spinoff is on its way. Disney+ Day featured a look at Agatha: House of Harkness, where Kathryn Hahn will reprise her role as Agatha Harkness. Additionally, WandaVision head writer and executive producer Jac Schaefer will return for Agatha: House of Harkness.

‘Marvel Zombies’ (TBA)

Even superheroes aren’t safe from a zombie apocalypse. Disney+ announced Marvel Zombies, an animated series that will follow “a new generation of heroes” on their quest to end a zombie takeover. What If…? director Bryan Andrews will lead the show.

‘Secret Invasion’ (TBA)

Finally, Disney+ offered a glimpse at the logo for Secret Invasion. Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn will reprise their Marvel roles as Nick Fury and the Skrull Talos, respectively. As viewers may recall, these characters first crossed paths in Captain Marvel.

“The crossover comic event series showcases a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years,” Marvel’s description read.
