A YOUNG woman with a popstar dad has revealed she wants to drop out of law school to pursue a career in acting.
But Lyric Medeiros’ admission has attracted criticism from trolls saying she is “piggybacking” off her dad’s success.
The 21-year-old’s dad is singer Glenn Medeiros, who is best known for his 1987 hit song Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You.
Lyric has already dabbled in singing contests and beauty pageants but now wants to try her hand in acting.
Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, she hopes to move to Los Angeles, US this summer in pursuit of a Hollywood career.
She is currently studying law at the University of Houston.

Another penned: “Follow your dad… you’ll have a ten minute career.”
Lyric recently took part in American Idol, following in her dad’s footsteps who shot to fame after competing in singing competition Brown Bags To Stardom.
This prompted one troll to say: “If your acting as awful as the singing don’t bother. Continue rinsing your parents, you seem good at that.”
The hopeful star already has a 400,000 strong following on TikTok.
Her dad’s career inspired her musical name, as well as her 23-year-old brother’s who is named Chord.
The pair like that their names make them stand out and find that a lot of people compliment them.
Lyric previously said she has never been bullied or had remarks made about her name.
