Louis Vuitton has just delivered its Pre-Spring/Summer 2021 lookbook, highlighting an eclectic array of traditional silhouettes that have been subtly tweaked. Virgil Abloh‘s direction for this season is predicated on the values of diversity, unity and inclusion.
The collection provides a distinctive perspective on luxury where Virgil’s design sensibilities “re-appropriate elitist codes into symbols of inclusivity,” offering silhouettes that meet the functional requirements of the current climate — dark palettes, for example, have been added to jackets, sweaters and coats to mirror winter’s cold-weather tones. Classic garments like gray fur coats, black leather flight jackets, velvet zip-up hoodies, navy blazers, wool trench coats, dark floral trousers and wool berets maintain the luxury house’s time-honored silhouettes while leaning into a nuanced street-influenced aesthetic.
One noteworthy piece is a denim short-sleeve button-up that’s covered with LV monograms and white paint. Another highlight is a red shearling jacket embroidered with Louis Vuitton’s floral motifs. A quilted green gilet also features the same motif. The collection also spotlights a new sneaker with premium suede uppers. It sports a sturdy shock-absorbent sole with a glossy semi-transparent finish. Other pieces like checkered suits, leather jackets with debossed monograms, a windbreaker with a camo-inspired pattern, wine-colored cardigans, knitwear, bucket hats and a variety of leather bags round up the expansive assemblage.
Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Spring/Summer 2021 collection will be available on November 13 on the label’s website — prices have yet to be disclosed.
