Inside Glasgow bar with its own fancy dress room full of costumes – even Gerard Butler's a fan | The Sun

THEY say people make Glasgow, but so do pubs – and Scottish punters are always up for a pint served with a side of laughter.

The bustling city has plenty of trendy watering holes but Shanghai Shuffle has something more unique to offer customers – and even Gerard Butler's a fan.

We took a look inside the beloved Glasgow bar famed for its "weird and wonderful" nights, complete with its own fancy dress room and face painting stall.

Owner Tony Tsang said his Chinese restaurant accidentally became a karaoke bar after one booked birthday parts over two decades ago.

Now, it's packed out every weekend – with 100 people already in full singing mode when we arrived last Friday night.

Tony, 61, told the Scottish Sun Online: "We've been doing this for 23 years. The karaoke started when someone hired the restaurant for a party, and they hired in karaoke.

"The people were having so much fun. So every time someone booked the restaurant for a birthday or hen night or something, we asked, would you like karaoke?

"Gradually we said we could do that as a usual thing every Friday and Saturday.

"We have our own DJ, our own equipment set up.

"It just started with one birthday party – that started all this."
