I'm a make-up artist and you need to stop spritzing your setting spray directly on your face – there's a much better way | The Sun

A MAKE-UP artist has shared a setting spray hack that is “the secret to long lasting make-up”.

And no, you don’t spray it onto your face.

Allan Craig took to TikTok to reveal the “iconic” hack popularised by celebrity make-up artist Kevin Kodra.

The beauty guru worked at Urban Decay for seven years, so he knows a thing or two about techniques.

Allan claimed that the setting spray hack stops your make-up from budging all day.

He said: “This hack has changed the make-up game.

“If you’re still spraying your setting spray like this, you need to stop.”

According to make-up giant Urban Decay, the best way to apply setting spray is to “shake the bottle well” and hold it around eight to ten inches away from your face.

Then, you close your eyes and mouth to mist the face two to four times in an X and T shape.

The idea is to have your face fully covered in the setting spray.

But according to Allan, spritzing it on a beauty blender is the way to go.

He explained: “Take a beauty sponge, load it up with setting spray.

“Go ahead and work that setting spray into your skin.

“You’ll see this will melt all your products together and give you a really nice skin-like finish.

“And your make-up is going nowhere.”

Allan’s video totted up over 800,000 views with thousands of beauty buffs vowing to try the hack.

One commented: “I have so many sponges that I don’t use because I’m a brush girlie.

“But I’m gonna try this.

“Hopefully I’ll finally have a use for all my sponges.”

Another quipped: “Okay, I only do this under my eyes but I’m gonna do it all over baby.”

Others claimed that the hack takes their make-up off or it makes it “go blotchy”.

Allan advised to not use too much pressure and lightly press the setting spray-soaked sponge onto your skin.

He also recommended dabbing the sponge on the back of your hand before putting it on your face.
