SARAH Harding made the heart-breaking admission that she is battling advanced breast cancer yesterday.
The Girls Aloud star, 38, bravely revealed that she had been diagnosed with the disease that had spread to the rest of her body.
Of course she had already informed her bandmates Cheryl, Kimberly Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts.
The Mirror reported that the women had an “emotional” phone call and that they are “doing everything they can” to support the Stockport-born star.
The group will be more than happy to offer support to Sarah as they have all been through a great deal both during their time in the band and since it split.
Here we take a look at the journey of each Girls Aloud star since the band parted ways in 2013.
The 34-year-old was quick to show her support yesterday, tweeting, “It goes without saying that this is blindsiding. @SarahNHarding you’re so loved and supported.”
Nicola has extended an olive branch to her former bandmate after Sarah’s friend Michelle Vince said that they had lost contact back in 2017 – but there “had been no fall out.”
It has not been plain sailing for Nicola who just last year had her £1.25 million home repossessed by the bank.
The Sun’s Dan Wootton revealed that she had been trying to sell the pad in Weybridge, Surrey, for a number of years.
But finding a buyer was impossible and the singer accepted she had to do a deal with the bank to save herself from financial ruin.
Because the repossession was a mutual agreement, she was able to secure her belongings before the house was put on the market.
Nicola had been forced to put her house on the market after becoming terrified of her ex-boyfriend and stalker.
The Crown Prosecution Service apologised for its decision not to prosecute Nicola’s ex-boyfriend Carl Davies in 2018, who was accused of violating a restraining order by stalking her.
He ended up receiving a lifetime restraining order after sending her 3,000 messages, which included threats to burn and stab her.
Nicola continues to perform across the country.
The 37-year-old made her feelings on Sarah’s diagnosis very clear when she shared a simple yet poignant emoji on Twitter yesterday.
The star shared the heart-breaking emoji shortly after her bandmate went public with the news.
And Cheryl has had her fair share of heart-ache since the band went their separate ways seven years ago.
Just a year after the band split, Cheryl shocked fans when she entered into a second marriage with businessman Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in July 2014 after a whirlwind three-month romance.
However the marriage fell apart and after months of speculation, the split was confirmed in January 2016 and the couple were granted a decree nisi in October of the same year.
The stress of her second divorce after splitting from Ashley Cole in 2010was reflected in her weight with fans sharing their concern when she became “worryingly thin.”
But Cheryl publicly addressed the issue, claiming no one has “any idea” what she went through.
She said: “I am so sick and tired of it being ok to call somebody too thin or a ‘bag of bones’.
“I would never dream of calling somebody too fat and that they should maybe cut down on their food intake? What is the difference?
“You have no idea what I have been through. Just losing my father-in-law very recently and everything that comes with that. Not that I am or should justify myself to anyone.”
It wasn’t long after her divorce to Jean-Bernard that Cheryl embarked on yet another shocking romance with One Direction’s Liam Payne.
At 11 years her junior, the pair had first met in 2009 when Liam, then 14, auditioned for the X-Factor.
They became parents in March 2017, and The Sun revealed on May 1, 2017 that the couple have named their son Bear.
On July 1, 2018, The Sun exclusively revealed the pair had split weeks prior and the One Direction heartthrob has now moved out of the £5million mansion they shared in Surrey.
Cheryl is now a single mum appears to be off dating and is keen to support her pal Sarah despite the pair having a “rocky” relationship.
When asked about Cheryl, Sarah said in 2017: "I haven't spoken to her in a while.
"Everyone asks that but we're so busy with our own stuff.
“It's not for me to say. Honestly, it's not for me to say. I don't like talking about the other girls if it's a personal thing.
"I mean, we were like sisters, so of course it would never be plain sailing the whole time."
Nadine, 35, was clearly heartbroken by her pal’s news and was quick to bolster her with support yesterday.
Writing on Instagram, she said: “I love you!!!! You have always been able to achieve miracles when needed!! I am here for the all the way & always will be!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👑👑👑⭐️⭐️⭐️ (sic)”
Nadine has maintained a friendship with Sarah since the split, with the pair apparently “sidelined” by the other three bandmates.
Sarah has previously shared text messages between her and Nadine on her Instagram account, refuting claims that there was a feud between them.
Nadine previously claiming that the other band members were BITTER because she had the best voice.
She told The Sun’s Dan Wootton: “It was fine at the start but there’s always politics in any band.
“It just happened that I always got more vocals than everybody else, so in terms of people wanting their voice heard, that wasn’t happening.
“And it made people, very bitter. They didn’t like that.”
Nadine has also suffered a fair amount of heartache.
During her time on I’m a Celeb last year she revealed she now lives with her mum following her split with fiance Jason Bell.
Nadine, 34, was in a relationship with the former American footballer for 11 years before their break-up was confirmed in September.
The pair have a five-year-old daughter together called Anaíya and, although she lives in Northern Ireland with Nadine, and Jason is based in the States, the pair continue to co-parent.
Nadine has continued to focus on her music since the band’s split, recently releasing a new single All That I Know.
Kimberley, 38, has assured Sarah that she will be there “every step of the way” following her devastating news.
Commenting on Sarah’s Instagram post, she wrote: “My heart is broken. You are so strong and brave and we are with you every step of the way."
Kimberley has been keen to rekindle her friendship with the band, revealing that lockdown offered her a “time of reflection” and she had been actively making amends with Girls Aloud following their rumoured spat.
The musician has had a strained relationship with Nadine since the band split in 2013.
When asked if she is still in touch with her bandmates, Kimberley told OK! magazine: "I speak to Cheryl and Nicole [Roberts] all the time anyway, but I have been in touch with Nadine and Sarah [Harding], too.
"Lockdown has been a time for reflection. Nadine and I were chatting the other day and we're going to get the kids together as they haven't met yet."
The singer shares sons Bobby, five, and Cole, three, with husband Justin Scott.
She has poured her focus into musical theatre since leaving the group, currently cast in the musical Sleepless alongside the Wanted’s Jay McGuinness.
In other news, here are four signs of breast cancer to look out for following Sarah Harding's diagnosis.
And this woman didn't want to bother the NHS with the lump in her breast during lockdown – and now she is proof you must get checked.
Plus this woman dismissed a breast dimple as a stretch mark, she was devastated to learn it was cancer.
