“Everyone’s longing for togetherness,” expressed Anna-Christin Haas, creative director of Galvan. The feeling is widespread and is a common thread amongst designers’ spring and now pre-fall 2021 collections. To celebrate the idea, the ladies of Galvan debuted a robust lineup of polished knitwear that follows the brand’s ethos of luxe day to night dressing.
A year ago, Haas brought in Helmut Lang alum Selina Elkuch to develop the brand’s knitwear from scratch, with plans to launch the category for resort. But with the onset of COVID-19, the brand held the assortment for pre-fall, opting to use the longer period of time as a silver-lining to finesse the lineup’s details.
“What we had been really excited about pre-pandemic suddenly felt even more relevant and important,” added Katherine Holmgren, commercial director.

The lineup includes signature Galvan details — corset shapes, long and lean silhouettes — rendered into elegant knitwear with a minimalist Nineties élan. Haas and Elkuch developed natural and recycled yarns from post-consumer waste with viscose, cashmere, wool and silk into transitional power-knits, while using transfers to shape and elongate the body. “The aesthetic is quite clean and simple but the technical part behind it is quite elaborate,” Haas explained.
The medium of knitwear allowed the brand to reinvent their signature evening attire into comfortable, supportive and ultra flattering ready-to-wear their customer yearns for. Examples included body-hugging cocktail dresses with sculptural necklines and corset details, sleek ribbed lounge sets and refined cardigans with brass-dipped pearl buttons. In addition to the impressive lineup of architectural, elegant fashions, the brand has expanded its sizing for knitwear from XS to XL, with an estimated 30 percent lower price-point for the category.
