Fumito Ganryu‘s Fall/Winter 2020 collection is an expansive assembly of garments that masks all its intricate cuts in nuance, a departure from the label’s boisterous SS20 lineup.
The designer opted for a direction that’s predominantly monochromatic, bringing out the sleek textures of the collection’s pieces: oversized blazers, peacoats, puffer jackets, graphic T-shirts, denim, button-ups and knitwear, to name a few.
One noteworthy piece is a knit sweater made in the shape of a noragi jacket. Colored in light brown, ivory and black, the garment features intricate motifs inspired by traditional Cowichan patterns. It comes with striped collars and two strings for tying up the center, alongside subtle ribbing at the sleeves and hemline. Another highlight is a bomber jacket that’s been slightly cropped. Orange accents appear along wide slits at the sides, complemented by the light drape of the jacket’s satin build. Other pieces like the funnel neck parkas, cropped trousers, thick peacoats, logo tees, khakis, chambray button-ups and trench coats round off the expansive range.
