According to Jane Siskin, summer 2021 dressing is looking alive and well. She was inspired by bohemian culture, specifically the Flower Power revival in the Sixties, to offer a range of easy silhouettes brimming with a carefree and optimistic spirit.
A big question mark remains on how people will ease back into the world and out of their apartments next summer, and Siskin provided a compelling reason to get dressed up again. Great flowy day dresses cut from floral organza will make the transition from brunch to work easy, and there was hope in a vibrant red maxi to frolic back through city streets.
She enhanced options for going back to the office with a level of comfort consumers have adopted this year, offering crepe trousers akin to joggers and slinky matte jersey in a cami top and pants with built-in waist tie. Even tailoring got a more playful treatment with a rich sangria bejeweled blazer bolstered by cuffed puff sleeves, a simple yet statement-making design element also seen on shirting, stretchy denim dresses and a cropped taffeta top. One of the more versatile and relaxed looks consisted of a pre-styled blazer featuring a hoodie and sweatshirt cuff, a perfect carefree item to work towards shedding the weight of being cooped up for so long.
