Action-thriller film Tenet is one of the biggest releases of 2020, bringing in an estimated $357.8 million in the box office, even with COVID-19 restrictions in place. The Christopher Nolan-directed film follows a secret agent working to prevent a third World War, which involves a dangerous (and headache-inducing) time-bending mission.
If you watched the film and had to take copious Advil after just to cope, the YouTube channel Heavy Spoilers has you covered. The channel recently released a video breaking down all the Easter eggs and hidden moments you may have missed in Tenet — and there are a lot.
Now, it’s common knowledge that the film plays off of the idea of palindromes, which is a word or phrase that is the same backward and forward (i.e. the word ’tenet’ itself). In the movie, however, this idea mostly alludes to time traveling forward and backward. As the Heavy Spoilers video alludes to, the film uses red and blue in countless ways to denote characters moving forward in time and characters moving backward. The attention to detail in these color-coded moments, along with countless other stunning details, makes the movie quite dizzying — in the best way.
“Nolan’s movies are so well thought out,” one fan commented on the video. I really appreciate the effort and attention to detail he puts in. It’s pretty incredible.” After watching this video, you’ll also be amazed at how much detail is in this single film.
Be warned: The video is crawling with spoilers, so if you haven’t seen Tenet, maybe bookmark this one until after you check out the film. But it definitely will give you a new perspective on the film — and make you want to watch again. Just be prepared for a headache.
