On Oct. 6, Tyler Cameron and Hannah Brown of The Bachelorette posted joint YouTube videos on their channels. The videos explained the nature of their friendship and what really happened all those months ago when they quarantined together. After they told fans that they are just friends, fans had mixed reactions.
The two bonded over their shared trauma
Brown titled the video on her channel “What Really Happened.” Together, Brown and Cameron revealed that they started talking again after Cameron’s mother suddenly passed away. Brown was also dealing with her brother overdosing and recovering, and together the two bonded over the traumatic situations they faced.
“We were kind of leaning on each other. We were both going through things, and were kind of like each other’s support system all of a sudden. You of course have your family there, but it’s always nice to have someone to lean on as well,” Cameron said.
Brown added, “I wanted to get away from my own trauma so I would say that I traded Tyler’s trauma for mine. I also wanted to be there for you.”
Brown attended his mother’s funeral as they became emotionally closer. Because of this, Cameron invited Brown to quarantine with him and his friends in Florida when shutdowns started occurring because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Tyler Cameron and Hannah Brown are just friends
Cameron, his friends, and Brown affectionately became known as the “Quarantine Crew.” Due to their funny TikTok videos and social media activity, many speculated that Cameron and Brown were secretly back together. It turns out that Cameron and Brown were not having as much fun as their social media portrayed.
“I’m at my ex’s house with all of his friends,” Brown said. “I’m like I don’t know where I fit. And I think I did a good job of like trying to be okay with the situation that I was in but for me like I was internally freaking out.”
Cameron added that speculation from fans made it feel like the two were in a “pressure cooker,” and he would sometimes avoid talking to Brown so they could not talk about the state of their relationship. While they slept in the same bed the whole time, Brown admitted that they “never kissed.”
Because of how tense the situation was, Brown found a ride and left to go home. As months passed, the two reconnected after Brown reached out first. Now, Cameron and Brown are in a healthier place as friends.
Fans have mixed reactions about Hannah Brown and Tyler Cameron’s friendship
After Cameron and Brown posted the videos on YouTube, fans of The Bachelorette posted their opinions on social media. Despite Cameron and Brown releasing the videos to stop speculation that they are dating, fans could not help but analyze the YouTube videos. It seems that even after Brown and Cameron explained where they stand with each other, fans have mixed feelings about the friendship.
“I’m ambivalent to them getting back together. If they do, great! If they don’t, also great! But I am so over difficult, dramatic falling outs, chases and miscommunications. Healthy relationships shouldn’t be a roller coaster of anger, not speaking, reuniting, rise and repeat. I hope if they do choose to pursue things they really work on this constant dysfunction and resolve old wounds and present communication,” one Reddit user wrote.
Other fans suspect that Brown has feelings for Cameron but that Cameron does not reciprocate those feelings.
“It’s obvious Tyler isn’t interested though but Hannah on the other hand still seems to like him, and care about him so doesn’t mind being friends… The way Tyler treated her previously especially the resentment treatment is awful. Hannah values him but it doesn’t seem he values Hannah,” wrote a Reddit user.
Despite Brown and Cameron’s denial, some fans still think the two will end up together.
“They are Ashley and Jared part II,” a Reddit user wrote, referencing Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon. “I’m sorry, but something keeps pulling them together. They have a longer and more complex/deeper history than most actual legit couples from this franchise.”
