Reba McEntire Receives Kennedy Center Honors

Country music legend Reba McEntire was honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Kennedy Center Honors program celebrating cultural achievement on Sunday.

McEntire was introduced by music star Kelly Clarkson, who performed her hit song “Fancy.”

McEntire sported a wide smile and clapped enthusiastically.

“Sometimes when we meet our heroes, it doesn’t always pan out,” Clarkson told McEntire. “But my friendship with you became one of the highlights of my life,” she added.

In addition to McEntire, Cher, saxophonist/composer Wayne Shorter and composer Philip Glass were also given the lifetime achievement award.

Hosted by Gloria Estefan, the program started with a memorial to late President George H.W. Bush.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were invited to the awards function, but they declined the invitation as they did last year.
