Prince William and Kate Middleton pay touching tribute to ‘inspirational’ Deborah James

Prince William and Kate Middleton have shared their thoughts are with the late Deborah James' family following her death on 28 June.

The BBC podcast host, who also went by the nickname 'Bowelbabe', died on Tuesday following a five-year battle with bowel cancer.

Taking to Twitter, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a touching tribute as they wrote: We are so sad to hear the heartbreaking news about Dame Deborah. Our thoughts are with her children, her family and her loved ones.

"Deborah was an inspirational and unfalteringly brave woman whose legacy will live on. W & C".

Many fans took the opportunity to share their own thoughts on Deborah's passing as they replied underneath 40 year old Kate and William's post.

One person wrote: "Dame Deborah was an inspiration to us all. I’m so glad you got to present her Damehood medal to her in person. May her star shine bright."

Another shared: "A hugely inspirational lady. A fighter throughout. I hope she may now rest in peace. Sending my love, strength and prayers to her loved ones".

While a third simply added: "May she rest in peace," followed by three white dove emojis.

Prince William visited Deborah back in May prior to her death at the age of 40.

The Duke visited her at her family home to pay congratulations after she was made a Dame and raised over £5million at the time – which has since risen above the £6.5m mark.

Sharing photos with the Prince on Instagram, Deborah gushed over how "surreal" it was to meet the Royal.

"Prince William actually came to our family house today!! I am utterly honoured that he joined us for afternoon tea and champagne, where he not only spent a generous amount of time talking to my whole family but also honoured me with my Damehood," she wrote at the time.
