Looks like the Cambridges just got a chance to spend some quality time with Queen Elizabeth at her Scottish estate. Vanity Fair reports that Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their kids joined Her Majesty at Balmoral for a week—their first family get together since Prince Philip passed away in April. This summer vacation is a tradition for the royals, and apparently the Queen looks forward to it every year.

“William, Kate, and the children have been enjoying some family time in Scotland and they have just spent some special time with the Queen,” a source tells Vanity Fair. “They always enjoy going up to Balmoral, they love the outdoors and walking in the hills and spending quality time with family. It’s where William spent a lot of his childhood and it’s important to him that his children experience what he did as a young boy.”
Balmoral activities typically include fishing, cycling, barbecuing, and horseback riding. In other words, a buncha fancy royal stuff!
“It has become a tradition in recent years that the Bank Holiday weekend is the final family get together before Christmas and everyone is invited,” the source adds. “In the past it has turned into one big sleepover with lots of the Queen’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her Majesty enjoys it immensely.”
In other royal news, Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly thinking of relocating to Windsor to be closer to the Queen, and are in the process of finding some new, massive estate to move their family into!
