Chris Hemsworth plays a literal god in the MCU, so we know that he spends a whole lot of the time in the gym pumping iron.
But to stay in shape, the Australian star is also keeping things hella healthy when it comes to his diet.
When the 35-year-old is in ‘hardcore prep mode’ to play Thor, or any other equally carved-from-stone character, Chris enlists food expert Sergio Perera to plan his diet – and sorry, there’s no pasties or McDonald’s involved.
Perera, who shares his advice on Hemsworth’s app Centr, told Men’s Health about the meal plan he compiled for Chris, and while it’s all formulated to keep the star lean, it sounds surprisingly tasty.
Every morning, the Avengers: Endgame star starts his day with a green ‘power shake’ which Perera explains is ‘made up of five to six different types of leafy greens and vegetables, low-glycemic fruits, nuts, seeds, fats and small amounts of sea salt to aid in electrolyte balance, nerve transmission and glucose metabolism’.
At 10am, Chris then has a healthy breakfast – whether that’s yoghurt and berries, three eggs on wholegrain toast with Vegemite (well, he is an Aussie) or a savoury porridge with poached eggs.
Then comes Hemsworth’s workout and post-workout shake, before a delicious lunch of sesame chicken salad and rice, a ribeye steak or grilled chicken.
To keep all that muscle in tact, Chris has to keep snacking before dinner – sadly, not on crisps, but with crackers and beef jerky.
And dinner? Well, the dad-of-two is treated to white fish or grilled lamb chopsm before taking some BCAAs (branched-chain amino acids) with a magnesium or zinc supplement before bed.
Sadly, we can’t all look like Chris by just sticking to this tasty diet, as he spends at least an hour every day in the gym completing his gruelling fitness routine. Boo.
The star also prescribes to a skincare regime to keep looking in tip-top condition, although his wife Elsa Pataky isn’t too happy about it.
The Thor: Ragnarok star – who wasn’t exactly the lean Thor we have come to expect in Endgame, thanks to a fat suit – revealed this week that his wife was flipping when he used her super-pricey La Mer moisturiser to treat sunburn.
The coveted cream comes in at £320 per jar, so understandably, Elsa wasn’t impressed when her husband slathered the pot’s contents on his shoulders after getting a bit crispy in the sun.
Chris told GQ: ‘She uses a lot of La Mer products, which, you know, cost a small fortune, so she’s less than happy when I use that face moisturiser over my whole body.
‘I found out the hard way when I used her $400 cream for a sunburn one time. That wasn’t the best option.’
Chris, who now swears by the much cheaper coconut oil for his sunburn, added: ‘She wasn’t really that impressed. It smells so delicious, I wanted to eat it.’
Maybe not add that to the diet plan, Chris.
