Gardeners’ World presenter Monty Don, 66, has faced divided opinion from his devoted followers after sharing that tonight’s episode of the popular gardening show will be a royal special featuring Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. The programme will see the couple tour Monty’s Herefordshire garden as they discuss their passion for the pastime.
I’ll fast forward that bit thanks
In view of his 237,500 Twitter followers, he gave an insight into what viewers can expect to see on tonight’s episode of the BBC programme.
He wrote: “A few weeks ago HRH the Duchess of Cornwall came to visit Longmeadow.
“Join her and myself tonight on Gardeners World at 8pm on BBC2,” he added.
Monty accompanied the post with two snaps of him and the Duchess of Cornwall locked in conversation in his garden as they filmed together.
However, the horticulturalist’s announcement was met with divided opinions from fans of the show.
One social media user quipped: “I’ll fast forward that bit thanks.”
As another agreed: “Me too.”
Another chipped in: “Er, no I’ll give her a miss.”
A fourth commented: “Well that spoilt my enjoyment of tonight’s programme. What next, Carrie and Boris!”
Nevertheless, many were delighted to see the duo together and said that they couldn’t wait to tune in to tonight’s episode.
“How wonderful! you did hint at a special day – so this was it!” gushed on Twitter user
“What an honour sure she loved your garden like we do, see you tonight monty x,” another penned.
As a third wrote: “Brilliant, lucky her! She brought nice weather with her too.”
During the one-hour show, Monty shows the senior member of the royal family around his Longmeadow garden.
The episode sees Camilla open up on her love of gardening as they explore the treasured Jewel Garden together.
Just like everyone else, Camilla told the BBC host how she deals with a lot of the same common gardening problems.
She said: “I’m very lucky I’ve got a big vegetable garden, but you get the mice, the voles this year, all ate the asparagus roots and got into the strawberries, so you can never win, there’s always something.”
Earlier in the year, Kate Middleton told how she wants her husband Prince William to be more green-fingered like Monty.
The Cambridge revealed that she was planning to buy her beau one of Monty’s books so he can bond over gardening with his father, Prince Charles.
Gardeners’ World royal special is on BBC Two tonight at 8pm.
